Calamity Trigger - Sin (World: Spira)

"Wow....."

The stranger simply stared up at the massive beast that rose high into the air. He looked into the water at his sword, then back at the dragon-like attcaker.

"This is going to suck, ain't it?"

He brushed off the thought, he needed to get back onto the ship to have any kind of chance against this thing. He gunned it as hard as he could, ignoring the pain and tensing in his muscles because this slight discomfort wouldn't be half as bad as death at sea. Damn, he thought this was going to be a calm, quiet cruise.

.........when was it ever?

Her chest felt frozen and heavy looking at the creature. Ima didn't really understand why. Was it fear? She hadn't felt this way with Sin...maybe it was because it seemed to be more in tune with the water. And water really freaked Ima out.

She ended up just staring at it with wide eyes, not doing or saying anything.

Takato slowly stood up, his arms dangling by his sides limply. His dark amber eyes staring up at the creature as he slowly began to walk towards the bow of the ship. Rain washed over him, almost mocking his courage and crying for the lives about to be lost. The Magi could feel his heart strain as he simply pat Ima on the shoulder and then walked past her, his features firm.

He never said a word.

In a matter of moments he stood closest to the beast and brought up his palm, throwing off the red coat. His metal arm and heavily scarred shirt stood in view, his gloves tearing as his clenched his blood licked fists. His ponytail waved in the heavy wind generated by the creature, his eyes never leaving the beast,

"Don't worry Ima."

Takato bowed his head and then grinned over his shoulder, his amber eyes shining,

"I'm going to evaporate every molecule this scumbag is made out of!"

"Oh yeah? And how do you propose you'll do that?!" Zora shouted as she Tossed the blonde boy on the Ship before climbing up herself. She got on her knees, coughing out the water that got in her lungs. "That last attack drained you, didnt it?"

Ima felt another heavy feeling in her chest. Here Takato was, doing his best to fight even when he was so obviously tired. And she was just...what was that human phrase? Trembling like a...something. She couldn't remember, humans had such odd sayings...

Point being, she was useless.

Ima put on her biggest smile and did the best that she could to push away her fears, looking to Takato. "Okay! Let me help too!" She said to him, making a mental pinky promise to herself that she wouldn't do that again.

“Yeah, you're right. It did drain me, Zora. Yet, I'm not going to stop fighting...”

The Magi frowned before holding up his hands, clenching them once again. A rush of lightning ran along his skin before his eyes howled with pain. The guilt of his gaze stung with torment, a shiver of magical energy begging to spark just at the edges of his form. He could feel his magical core crack, his metal arm becoming red hot as he slowly brought it up. A small smile licked the edges of his lips, his fleeting vision falling back upon Ima,

“We will do it together. We will take this overgrown fish down.”

With that he turned back to Leviathan, looking up at it. He felt the soulless gaze lock onto him as he began to gather energy. His own voice echoed, reaching out to the stranger and Zora, his blonde locks casting a blanket of shadow over his features. “Help us fight this thing, guys. Don't give up, just keep fighting....”

His increasingly rusty and twitching metal arm flared with light as he suddenly lashed out with it, pointing it straight at Leviathan and the ocean. “Don't throw away your life, fight for it. Take this, Fulguratio Albicans!” (White Lightning)

A certain blonde swordsman stood up and watched this event, along with the party of a familiar summoner. They looked at each before nodding, rushing forward to meet the Magi and the others, each one donning a weapon or heart of hope. This thing was a stepping stone, Sin was next!

"Tch, idiot..." Zora muttered as she staggered up, panting. ~Fuck...this better count.~ She thought before running up to the front of the ship. Her arm grew more monstorous, deadly, and bigger as she ran before jumping up and slashing down with all her might.

Ima felt most of the bad feelings truly vanish after Takato said all that. While they weren't completely gone, she felt a lot better now. She gave a much realer smile before looking to her gun.

She pushed a button on it before zooming off to the back of the serpent's head. She aimed and fired, a red beam shooting out. Only instead of the beam being about the width of a dime, it was more the size of a stop sign, and continued to get bigger until it hit Leviathan.

The stranger had made his way on to the ship, stumbling as it rocked by the fury of everything occuring at once. Energy flared, emotions exploded, war was coming. He took a deep breath in, the same rain falling over his bare upper body, soaking his silver hair down to his head. It was soothing int he face of death. He reached down, gripping the same sword he had thrown on to the deck of the ship.

He rose his face to the sky, feeling his own locks slick back down his face, letting his muscles go loose for just a brief moment. He was enjoying this. Then the words hit his ear. The words of the magical being he had only spoken to twice in the heat of battle. They hit home.

He couldn't die here. Not yet. He made a promise to someone. No, not just someone. Everyone that ever mattered to him. He gripped tighter and tighter on the hilt of the mysterious blade, his eyes opening to the sky, not effected by the rian.

"I'll fight."

He bent his knees, launching himself forward as hard as he could, gripping the hilt with both hands, the blade falling behind him, almost catching up with the young mage.

"I'LL FIGHT HIM TO THE END!"

He leaped into the air, swinging the blade with all of his might at the assumed neck area of the serpent.

It was at that moment that everything changed.

A blue sword, a spear, a ball, a hurricane of spells, and a blast of energy joined the fight. The attacks from each warrior, combined the raw power unleashed by the four otherworldly gurdains, tore into Leviathan with all the strength of the heart. Onwatchers felt hope bloom fully as it gave a pain filled roar, the voice of the Magi booming over the noise,

"Iaculatio Fulgoris!"

Several enormous lances made of lightning shot outwards from the boat, impacting into the beast, allowing science to take over. The large beast screeched, a glow overtaking it as water rocked against the boat, rain falling on its smoking form. Its soulless eyes closed, its corpse slamming into the water.

Pyreflies lifted upwards from the water, a single round sphere landing on the boat and rolling across silently. The Magi looked at it with shock before laughing happily, hitting the floor a second later with only a single sentence on his lips,

"...H-How do you propose we do that, Zora? Like that."

With that little joke said, his panting form went limp and his eyes fell to a close, his amber gaze becoming encased in darkness. His breath was no longer heard, a dead silence now setting over the calming sea. Only the sound of the sphere rolling could be heard, along with the gentle splashing of the ocean against the ship.

The stranger landed back on the deck, falling to one knee from the sheer force of the strike he had landed on the menacing creature. He dug his blade into the deck of the ship, swallowing a mouthful of saliva, then breathing heavily. It was just one shot, but he had felt like he had been fighting for hours. He slowly rose to his feet, leaving the sword in the splintered wood before walking a ways, picking up the black elongated coat resting on the deck, and placing it on, covering up his upper body aside from his chest. He removed the sword from the deck, spinning it once, and placing it through a hole in the back of his coat into the leather harness on his body.

Then he saw it.

He saw the prideful being laying motionless on the wood, the energy gone from his being. He didn't shed a tear, he didn't want or need to, but he mentally thanked the young man for the words that brought the warriors to arms. He closeds his eyes, bringing one hand up in a prayer-like position, hoping that some way, some how he could fight for just a little bit longer, if not for himself, for his friends. They looked like they needed him.

Zora looked at the Serpent, who is now in the sphere, before turning and walking to Takato. Her arm slowly turned back to its original state and she scrossed her legs as she sat down before lightly hitting his head with her fist.

"Baka. We've only been ehre for about a day and you almost got yoruself killed." She muttered. ~What the hell is up with this world...~ She let out a big sigh. "Well, now that's over with, let's jsut go on our mer-" She froze. She felt some sort of convulsion going at the beat of her own heart before a seering, unberable pain took over her right arm.

"Gah! Fuck, my arm! My arm!!!" She cried as she fell from her sitting position to lying on the ground, holding her convolsuing black, monster right arm in pain. Her face was twistedi n agony as the pain seemed to intensify. "Fuck!"

Landing on the ship, Ima just stared at the scene before her. What was happening? She had no idea. All that she knew was that the feeling she had when she saw Leviathan was back, and indefinitely worse.

But she remember her promise and didn't let it stop her.

The girl took another look at them before going over to her only other friend here.

"Yuna, Yuna!" She cried as she stopped, floating in front of said girl. "I don't know what's wrong! Takato's chest isn't moving like it normally is and Zora is screaming and...and..." She stopped herself as she realized that talking like this wouldn't help. "Please help them! I don't know what to do!"

She didn't realized that she was 'malfunctioning' during all this.

"I-I'll try my best!" smiled Yuna with firm eyes and walked between them, taking up her staff. Her gaze flickered to the disgusting arm and the broken form before she began to twirl, a white glow flowing over them both. A glyph formed beneath her, a song slipping over her lips. It was beautiful, her spell becoming increasingly stronger in the process.

The blonde Rutherford twitched before the healing light washed over him, his breathing suddenly perking back to laugh as colour returned to his pale features. His hands twitched, yet he did not open his eyes as Tidus sank down to pick him up, grunting from the weight (for such a shrimp, he sure was heavy)

"kaze ga...yoseta...kotoba ni...oyoida...kokoro...kumo ga hakobu ashita ni...hazunda...koe..."

Tidus paused at the beautiful voice, looking over at the dancing Yuna as pyreflies began to whip around the deck. He noticed Takato gaining a smile on his lips, eyes flickering open to reveal a pure amber gaze. The two blondes blinked, a metal fist lightly tapping the Blitzballer on the cheek,

"T-tell her to turn that d-damn music down, will ya..?"

Tidus just laughed, watching as Yuna continued dancing, the song lighting up the entire ship...

Zora's pained screams and shouts were soon quiet down to a few whimpers and grunts, her arm merely twitching now. IT suddenly convulsed violently in reaction with her spell and Zora stiffened, determined not to shout out again.

"T-That's enough!" She cried as she staggered up, only to then fall backwards. Wakka managed to catch her before she fell down again.

"Whoa whoa whoa, you sure you're all right?" He said as he steadied the wounded girl. "Take it easy, ya?"

"Tch..." Zora turned away, still holding onto her right arm. She paused as she saw the sphere that was once the Serpent before walking over to it. Taking a look at it, she did what any sane person would do.....

...She kicked it...into the ocean. As hard as she could.

With that said and done, sne slwoly walked her way towards the cabin. "Tell me when we reach Kilikika or whatever it's called...I'm going to sleep..." she muttered.

The stranger simply watched the summoner dance, listening to the haunting melody she let go from her lips. He closed his eye sonce again, relieved that the young man and his friends were going to be all right, at least for the most part. He had only known them for a very short time, not even knowing their names, but from this near-death experience, they were like family to him. Anyone willing to fight beside him was on his good side.

A smirk crossed his lips, a satisfaction of the work done washing over him as he reopened the portals to his soul, viewing the pyreflies encircling the ship. They were so.........beautiful. In reality, a sorrow should have been there, but he knew these souls were off to a better plain of existence.

All was right. He removed the rose once again from his coat, simply gazing at it as a single petal fell. He looked out to sea, then at the pyreflies again. He tossed the rose into the roaring waters as a dedication to those lost, may they rest in peace.

Ima felt the terrible feeling disappear completely as she saw Takato open his eyes. She let out an audible sigh before letting herself float to the ground. Slowly she began to walk to the mage, before something caught her eye.

It was the sphere that Leviathan seemed to turn into. She stared at it., flying over her head. When Takato had taken something like this from the bird before, it had become an ally, hadn't it?

A friend, hadn't it?

Ima was scared. Water scared her. This creature scared her. What it had done to Takato and everyone scared her the most.

But...

She shot up and grabbed the orb, and it glowed before disappearing, and she heard words that she couldn't really understand.

...she wasn't supposed to let her fear make excuses for her, right?

With that, she went over to Takato and stood next to him. "You okay now?" She asked, remembering a conversation like this that seemed like ages ago...






As adorable and awesome as Carbuncle seems...I think Leviathan would be more symbolic. Sorry Leon, please don't hate me for this. XD

Time skip...

The boat soared through the water with a groan, cutting waves with ease as the morning sky poured rain down upon them. A single amber eye gazed at the sky, a smile painted across a pair of lips. Takato stood looking out to the sea, bandages wrapped around one eye and parts of his body. His metal arm was covered beneath his shirt and glove once again, his coat hanging off him like a cape.

Since the battle, things had become odd between the four and the rest of the crew. Not only had they driven away Sin with a strange Aeon and advanced Machina, they also took on a massive beast within a range of impossible odds. Even Ima was getting a few looks because of her use of powers and extremely advanced weapon. Things were good, yet very tense.

He could faintly hear the whispers since he had been healing in a crew bunk. Most of those on board thought he was some kind of holy man of Yevon, with the ability to summon a powerful Aeon and call upon ancient unknown magic. Yet, others thought he was a monster. His metal arm, Machina, made a few dub him an abomination of mankind, a heathen of the highest degree.

Yuna and her group didn't know what to think. Her faith had been questioned since she had met him, and since the fight with Sin she seemed to be trying to really warm up to him and the others, almost like she was hoping to gain the strength they exerted in battle. He had heard her mutter a single thing when she gazed upon him in mid-healing,

"I..must defeat Sin...."

For Zora, things were worse off. Her demonic arm, now shown to be truly real, had been freaking people out. People thought she was unsent, or a fiend. Yet, a few that she had fought to protect on board had actually started brawls at such insults. A few thought her as a fallen angel-like being, one that was missing its wings. The women on board had been trying to get autographs off her all day, which was quite amusing he had to admit.

A section of the men on board had repeatedly began to treat her with overwhelming respect, with most of them blushing in her presence. The Rutherford suspected that they had crushes on Yamakuzi, what with the strength and unique looks she possessed. The only reason she wasn't been hit on was because of her arm and her prowess in battle. Still, the unexplained pain that Zora had been inflicted with nagged at him, and even with his magical knowledge he didn't have a clue what to do about it.

The strange gunman that helped them was another oddity that intrigued those that he had saved. He had given his name, Raven Blair, but he himself didn't truly know if it was his real one. Either way, Raven had gathered himself a following. His handsome looks combined with his almost anti-hero style had already made a few hearts beat faster. A few girls had already tried to flirt with him, yet he didn't know what grew beyond that.

That isn't to say he hadn't got his fare share of shunning. Wakka and most of the confirmed Yevon followers may of been thankful for his help, but they were cursing him as a heathen for even to daring use Machina. Even Yuna, though seemingly quite taken with his appearance and style, seemed rather angry at his ways. He himself thought it was funny.

The people in this world were so fickle.

Finally, there was Ima. He hadn't spoken to her since he had awakened (he had tried, but he hadn't been able to find her in his wounded haze.), but he had heard that she had certainly gained a few fans. Most of the men on board were too proud to admit that they had been protected by a small girl, but they did treat her a lot kinder now, even going as far as to cook her extra food and the alike.

The girls thought she was adorable, and at least three made sure to follow her around like mother-hens. They also introduced her to the Chochobo helping move the ship, the cute yellow feathered birds down below. He couldn't help but smile at the thought of Ima petting a Chochobo. A simple slice of peace after a hectic day.

"Are you okay?"

Takato blinked as he was broken from his thoughts, meeting the multicoloured gaze of Yuna. The two stood in silence for a moment, only for the Magi to turn to the front and then smile sadly, his voice echoing past her soft ears in a breeze. "I guess I was wrong. You really are quite strong, Yuna."

"I-I..have to be."

He understood, nodding as they simply watched the sun rise. They were nearing Kilika, the next stage of their journey. The next part of the plan in getting home...

Zora sat there against the wall in the cabin, silent. She crossed her arms as she glared at the wall across from her, ignoring the stares and whispers she was getting. She was quite annoyed with the men who constantly pestered her. Taking a deep sigh, she stood up and began to walk outside again, being bored just sitting there.

"Oi, beansprout!" She shotued to Takato as she walked up to him. "Are we almost there yet?"

Ima giggled as she pet the fluffy yellow bird. It made a sort of cooing sound as it leaned into her touch. The small girl couldn't help but wish that they could keep one. They were so cute!

She was also confused with all the attention, but she was happy they didn't seem to be giving her as many funny looks. She felt bad having to turn down all of the food that the men offered her. She had finally figured out what food was, and realized that she couldn't eat it. One of the downsides of being her kind, she supposed...

The girls that kept following her were really nice too! They offered to play with her,and it was a lot of fun! But they got tired after a while, as they weren't with her now.

She pat the Chocobo once more before leaving where they were and going to the top of the ship.

She really REALLY hoped the sun would come out soon...otherwise things would probably be very bad for her and she might scare the others...

The door leading down into the cabin opened quite fast, making a small bang on the wodden wall on the same side thanks to the boot of a familiar silver-haired young man. Raven had made his way up onto the deck, a long-lasting yawn escaping his mouth as he outstretched his arms. You know for sure that he had some well deserved rest after that battle, but today was a new day.

He made his way across the deck, the hilt of his sword which escaped the back of his leather trenchcoat gleamed in the dim sun that cracked through the rainclouds that took up most of the sky, his knuckle-gloved hand scratching the back of his head. He closed his right eye, catching a sweet spot on the back of his head. Damn, that felt really good for some reason.

Things had gotten real good over the past night, least he thought so. Young women had been crowding him the entire time for some reason, trying to ask him his name and the lot. He would've loved it if he was that type, but sadly, Raven had become used to the lone wolf lifestyle. He wasn't one to use a women either, but the company was nice!

That is, for the most part........

Raven had broken out into a few war of words over the night as well. Well, more of a one-sided war. These crazy religious zealots, what did they follow, Yevon or something like that. They had claimed him a heathen, a damned soul in the eyes of Yevon for the use of Machina. He had no idea what they were talking about, and didn't really care. He knew lost and evil souls..........he made it his life to hunt them down, and as far as he knew, that made him a warrior for good, no matter how selfish his reasons.

Raven made his way to the front of the ship, noticing the forms of three of the few other warriors he had fought beside last night against the hords of creatures and that sea monster, whatever it was. Raven thought them nothing less than hell spawn from that other creature. It was massive, but he felt no demonic presence on it. Yet that smell. That smell had haunted him for the majority of his life. The smell of death. The smell of the afterlife.

The massive creature had gone away but the smell remained, though much weaker. Something was strange about these passengers, but he knew death had played a part here. Whatever, he'd just need to remember it for a later time.

"Hey!"

Raven called out the the small gathering, making his way to the front of the ship and resting his elbows on the railing.

"Let me see if I got this right, you're Zora, Takato....."

He then made eye contact with the summoner, now realizing that two seperate colored eyes looked back at him in a mix of nervousness for some reason, and rage, hate even. Great..........another one.

"This lovely lady must be this 'Lady Yuna' everyone is talking about."

"Y-Yes," bowed Yuna with a red blush on her cheeks, her long silky hair casting a shadow over her multicoloured eyes. The Magi next to her blinked in confusion before laughing to himself, scratching his cheek with his gloved metal hand. The Rutherford was quickly broken from his thoughts as he heard Zora shout, turning to meet her,

"Yeah, we should be arriving very soon." He toned, pointing to the island growing ever closer in the distance. The sun cast rays down upon them, his uncovered amber eye blinking as he let a slight smile slip across his lips. "Can't say I'm going to be doing much beyond researching when we hit land though. Not in this condition."

Yuna suddenly looked up at his voice and turned to him, her eyes falling upon the bandaged boy. She studied him for a moment before taking a step forward, her voice soft. "A-Ah, can I please ask something of you, Sir Takato? I...would like you to be my Guardian..."

The Rutherford just stared for a moment before shaking his head, crossing his arms. "Sorry, no can do. In my current condition I can't do much beyond a few minor spells. That, and I'm simply looking for a way to get home, let alone go on another adventure..."

Yuna seemed shocked for a moment at the answer before she bowed her head and nodded weakly, her features now filled with sadness. He may of hurt her faith, and did seem to dislike her a bit, but Takato's words in the battle yesterday had awoken something within her. Hope. A hope that she could permanently defeat Sin.

"I..I see."

The Magi looked out into the distance and then shrugged, leaning on the edge before he spoke in a more lighter. "Guess we don't have long left on this vessel. We might as well wait here until we hit Kilika. Wonder what it looks like..."

"I don't care what we do when we get there...I'm going to sleep!" Zora said as she leaned over the railing with her left hand. Her ear and eye twitched as she could overhear people talking about her, mainly because of her demonic arm.

"And?" She suddenly said to the blonde mage. "How do you propose we get back? We don't have any good leads...if we follow Miss summoner over here, we'll be able to travel aroudn and find clues."

"Find home, eh?" Raven's ears perked at well at the comment, his focus still remaining on the illusion of the growing island infront of him. He placed his hands into his pockets, talking a breath before turning to the small group around him.

"I was going to ask you that. What you're doing here, what your traveling for, the like." He smirked a bit, motioning with his head to the island behind him "and why you're off to the nice piece of paradise over there."

He then turned his attention to the depressed summoner. "Hey, Yuna." he spoke with a mixture of offense to her hatred, but still concerned for a sad woman. That was a sight he never liked to see, no matter who they were. "Let me ask you something. What's Machina? Apparently I'm a heathen for using them."

He laughed at the phrase, finding it rediculous.

Ima gave a sigh of relief as she felt the sunlight. It was a good thing too, she had no idea how much longer she could have gone without it. The alien missed the near constant sunshine of her planet sometimes.

But then again, she was here for a reason.

She simply stood there for a minute, basking in the light before she noticed Takato. The child grinned and skipped over to her friend, giving him a light hug and looking up to him. "Hi Takato! You feeling better now?" The she turned to Zora. "And you too?"

The girl then noticed Yuna and went to hug her as she did Takato. "Thank you for helping Yuna! You're a good friend!" She gave a big grin at the older girl.
