The Prolouge: Birth of Shinra

Not long ago, you, myself, and Shin all went to the same school. It was the first day when we all met. I sat in the back, looking at the cards within my Vanguard deck. Shin was most likely the first to notice... you were the second, and the first to say anything...

"Umm...are those Cardfight Vanguard cards?" The girl asks as she hesitantly walks up to Nova. Her gaze kept from going from her fiddling fingers to Nova and back.

"Yeah," Nova said shortly, almost as if he was too busy to speak. "Well that's a pretty lack luster response," the orange haired boy said as he walked behind the girl. "You're not too friendly to strangers, are you? Maybe it would help if we weren't strangers. I'm Shin Todaka." He turned to see that the cards Nova was looking at were Nova Grapplers. "Oooh, so your a Nova guy?"

"Nova...Grappers?" The girl tilts her head as she looks over. "They're the type of clans that gain power through standing...something like that, right?" She stares at hte cadrs before realizing the boy behind her was talking and saying his name. "A-Ahh...I'm sorry! I should have introduced myself, too! I-I'm Leia Kyozuka!"

"Nova Egret," Nova said simply as he set his cards down. "You seem to know a bit about the game. Does that mean you have a deck of your own?" Shin smiled lightly as he sat down in the seat in front of Nova. "I was actually looking for people around the school who knew the game. I've always wanted to go to the big Vanguard tournaments, but they're all team based. I'd need at least two other people to help me."

"Well...I have cards, but I've never really fought anyone before..." Leia said, fiddling with her fingers. "People won't fight me or take me seriously because I'm a girl...I only know the basics of the game, but other then that..."

Nova looked at her for a moment. There was something about her that was different. He grinned lightly and said, "Why don't you show me what you know? I wouldn't really want to be on a team in which I didn't know my teammates."

"H-Huh?!" Leia's eyes widen as she starts waving her arms. "T-That's impossible! I haven't even played a card fight before much less think I'm good enough for a team! Be-besides...." She returns to her meek attitude, fliddling with her fingers. "I...Umm...don't think I made this deck very good...It's only one clan, but it feels really weird..."

"Well its not like you'd be bad on the team," Shin said with a small smile. Nova, on the other hand, held out his hand and said, "Let me see this deck. If you have doubts, then I can at least look at it for you."

".....Ok...." Leia finally said as she pulled out a deck box and handed it to Nova. Inside were an assortment of Royal Paladins. "I heard that these were best for beginners...but...there's so manycards, i dont know what to pick..."

Nova looked through the cards, finding an assortment of just about every Royal Paladin card one could think of all in one deck. He gave a small chuckle and said, "It suits a beginner well, but I have a feeling you'll need something a little simpler." He handed the deck back to her and asked, "Just what is it that you want to do with the deck? Standing for more attacks? Drawing cards? Having a large field? There's a lot you can do, but I think it would help if you narrowed it down."

"H-Hah?" Leia looks at nova as if he was crazy. She was in deep thought before answering his question. "I...really don't know...Like I said, I only know the basics."

"In that case, there's only one way to learn," he said as he moved his hand down to his own deck, picking it up as he placed it on the table. Shin laughed lightly and said, "This looks like fun, but here isn't the best place. I have a place set up where we can practice." He stood up as he led Nova and Leia away, into the Equipment Room of the school. There was a Vanguard table and chairs set up inside. "You two can practice all you want here."

"H-Huh?!" Leia's eyes widen as they moved form the classrom to the equipment room. "W-Wait, I never said I wanted a fight!" She tries to persuade. "I-I told you, I'm just a novice!"

"How will you be better if you don't try?" Shin said as he closed the door behind them Nova was already at the table, giving a small smile as he looked back at her. "If you have any trouble, I'll help you, so don't worry about winning or anything like that."

"....Fine..." She said in defeat, sighing as she walks over to the table. It took her awhile, but she set up her field and hand. "Soo....who goes first?"

He set his card down, looking at his opening hand. He looked at her and said, "You're nervous... Don't be... Stand Up, Blaujunger!" His unit flipped over as a somewhat small armored mech was on his field.

"O-Ok....Stand up, Wingal Brave!" She shouted as Leia flips over her vanguard, revealing a small blue dog with pink hair and armor.

The battle raged with Leia inflicting 3 damage upon Nova, but Nova had her down to 5 damage as Leia's final turn came. "You've done a lot by lasting this long, so let's see what you can do against my Stern Blaukruger!" Stern Blaukruger was at 11k, supported by Dancing Wolf. On the sides were Eisenkrugal and Kirara, both supported by Tough Boy.

"U-Umm....no guard...." Leia said in defeat as her hand only contained grade 3s and a few grade 2s. She had no rears to intercept with as she awaits for his twin drive.

Nova's Twin Drive revealed the first to be a Blaukruger while the second was a BattleRaizer. "Stand Trigger... Power to Stern Blaukruger and Eisen stands!"

"Damage check..." She flips over the top card on her deck, sighing as she reveals it to be Dancing wolf. "No trigger...I lose."

Shin was clapping his hands lightly as he walked up to them. "For a newbie that wasn't half bad. In fact, I don't think I could have done better myself." Nova smiled lightly and said to her, "Even as a rookie, no maybe even because you are, I had a bit of trouble reading your strategies. Your not bad at this by any means."

Leia's expression lighten up as she started to smile. "R-really? Thanks! That means a lot!" she says. "So...do you think I should stick with Royals or switch with something else?"

"I think'd you'd be better with something else," Nova said as he placed his deck on the table. "Take my deck, for example. Why don't you look it over? If you can find out what its meant to do, maybe you have a chance at making your own sometime."
