The Start of the Journey

Zeiro's eyes widen at the man, shaking him. "Hey! Wake up!" he shouted. AFter a few more attempts, he realizes the man kileld himself. Bulbasaur's vines released his leg as Zeiro stood up, staring at the lifeless corpse. "...Let's go..." He muttered softly, heading out of Route 1 with Bulbasaur on his tracks.

Soon, they arrived to Viridian City. His first thought was to go to the Gym, but he wanted to stop by the Pokemon Center first to restore his pokemon's health. He entered the Pokemon center and walked up to the counter to see a woman with pink hair clad in a nruse's outfit.

"Welcome to the Pokemon Center!" She said happily with a smiling face. "My name is Nurse Joy. How may I help you?"

"I would like to get these two pokemon healed up." Zeiro said, picking up Bulbasaur (who's too stubborn to get in his pokeball) and placed the Pidgey he caught earlier next to him.

"All right, then. I just need you to write your name here, then come back tomorrow morning and they should be ready for you." Nurse Joy said, pointing to a sign in paper that Zeiro quickly fileld out as she took Bulbasaur and his pokeball into another room.

It didn't take long to realize that the path before him was blocked off. It said that it was the road to the Pokemon League Championship which wouldn't begin for quite some time. As a result, the entire road was cut off. With that in mind, Akio continued on. "The man said the nearest open Gym's in Pewter City, right?" Akio said, speaking to Squirtle and Spearow who were both outside their Pokeballs. "Well then let's head there!" The Pokemon cheered as they marched with their master, on their way directly to the Viridian Forest. (Yes, he has no need to go to the shop nor the Pokemon Center just yet. He will though...)

The next day...

"Here you go, Mr. Zeiro!" Nurse Joy said, reutrning Bulbasaur ahd Pidgey to the boy. "The two of them are all healed up and healthy! Have a nice day!"

"Thank you very much." Zeiro said, taking Pidgey's pokeball and heading out the pokemon center with Bulbasaur hot on his trails.

As he left the pokemon center, he headed to the only available route he was able to take, As he walked, he has long sinced released Pidgey from its pokeball, allowing it to rest on his shoulder as he and Bulbasaur walked twoards their next destination: Viridian Forest.

Inside the Viridian Forest, Akio sat up lightly from a laid position. He seemed to have bits of dirt on his clothing from his trials in the forest. He sighed lightly and said, "Didn't think it'd be this big. Uh, guys... I think I'm lost..." Spearow and Squirtle both gave him a glare as a small yellow mouse climbed out of the tree above them and started to walk away. Akio jumped up at the sight of it and said, "Hey, I haven't seen that Pokemon yet. Spearow, go with Fury Attack!" The Spearow flapped its wings and began to fly towards the Pokemon when its cheeks started to spark and it sent a jolt of electricity at the red winger bird, bringing it down.

"An electric type? That means Squirtle with have problems against it too... Still, can't pass up this change. Squirtle, Bubble!" The turtle started to blow bubbles, hitting Pikachu but also keeping it trapped within them. The mouse let out a strong bolt of Electricity to disperse the bubbles only to have a Pokeball meet its tail. The ball fell and clicked to lock, signifying that it was captured. "I knew it! It weakened itself with those electric attacks and I got it..." He looked at his Pokedex to see what it was. "Pikachu, huh?"

Zeiro soon entered the Viridian Forest, taking in the time to look around the massive forest, hearing all the different noises it produced. Bulbasaur and Pidgey looked around in absolute wonder as the three of them walked along the forest. For a simple trainer, it shouldn't be extremely hard to find one's way out of the forest.

A rustle in the grass alerted the trio as Zeiro narrowed his eyes, seeing a Weedle coming out of the grass. "Gust attack!" He said as Pidgey got off his shoulder and flapped its wings, sending out a gust of flurry at the Weedle. What he didn't know is that behind the bush behind the weedel was a certain trainer and his pokemon.

The gust attack caught Pikachu's Pokeball within the updraft just before Akio could pick it up. The ball started to roll away as Akio yelled out, "Where did the wind come from!" The yell was loud, loud enough to be heard from anyone. He started running after the Pokeball, not knowing it was going near a nesting ground for Beedrill.

"AHH!" a yell was heard as Akio ran past Zeiro. Following him was a swarm of territorial Beedrill that were also looking at Zeiro as an enemy now.

The boy blinks, hearing Akio's voice behind the bush. Looking over, he could spy the boy chasing down a pokeball near a Beedrill nest. "You idiot! Don't go that way!" He shouted. Sadly, Zeiro was too little too late in his warning as he quickly picked uo Bulbasaur and started to run with Akio and away from the Beedril.

"Who the hell goes near a Beedrill's nest to catch a pokemon?!" He shouted at Akio, glaring at him as he positioned Bulbasaur's bulb to point at the Beedrill. "Sleep Powder, Bulbasaur!"

On command, the bulb expelled blue powder, hopefully aiming at the Beedrill coming up from behimd them.

"I didn't know, alright!" Akio said as they were running away. "I went to sleep, woke up, and there he was!"

The Sleep Powder did connect to the Beedrill, sending them to sleep almost instantly. However only the front row of Beedrill were affected. There were still about five Beedrill chasing them. They all extended their arms, preparing to use their Twineedle attack.

"Who the hell sleeps near a nest?!" Zeiro shouts as he continued to run, still hearing the Beedrill hot on their trail. "Look, we're not here to cause trouble! We'll get out of the forest if you stop chasing us, okay?!" With that said, he suddenly pushes Akio to the right, causing them to fall into a bundle of bushes and roll dow na small slope in order to lose the Beedrill.

~Is he... talking to them?~ Akio thought before he was pushed down into the bushes. He fell down the slope, rolling before he hit a tree down at the bottom. He placed his hand on his head and said, "Oww... Why'd he do something like that... Moreover, why did he start talking to the Beedrill?"

The Beedrill that were chasing them seemed to slow down at Zeiro's words. The looked at the boy for a moment, then flew to him more calmly, not in the fighting mood they were in before.

Zeiro started to slow down to a stop, turning to the now calmed Beedrill. He tried to catch his breath as he let Bulbasaur back down on the ground, facing teh Beedrill. "Look, all we need is a way out of this forest. We're sorry for tresspassing into your territory." He said to the Beedrill. "If you could, can you please show us where to go?"

The Beedrill gave a slight nod as they turned and pointed into a clearing to the far east of the Forest. Afterwards, they turned and began moving back their nest.

Zeiro let out a small sigh, satisfied of the clearing showing the way out. "Thank you." he called out to the Beedrill as they left. Soon, he and his two companions walked over to the bushes, leaning over to see Akio on the bottom. "What are you doing there? Hurry up, or I'll leave you to get lost."

Akio glared as he started to climb the slope again. When he reached the top, he immediately said, "What the heck was that for? And how did you calm the Beedrill down anyway? All I saw you do was talk. Is it really that easy sometimes?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Zeiro simply denied as he turned his back to Akio, leaving him in the dirt as he continued his way towards the exit of the forest. "If you don't hurry up, I'll leave you."

He gave Zeiro an annoyed look as he followed him through the forest, trying not to speak. The Pewter Gym was next. He'd been able to battle many Bug Pokemon and some trainers as well, but he didn't have much battle experience with his Pokemon yet. He wasn't worried, but he also didn't know what he was in for.

Soon, the two of them arrived at Pewter City (Which, pokemon logic, states it's a tiny city). Normally, Zeiro would head to the Pokemon Center, but seeing as how only Pidgey really got any experience fighting in the Viridian forest while Bulbasaur was fit and fine, he wanted to try his chance at the Gym. Without a single word to Akio, he walked past the center and headed towards the giant gym nearby.

Akio walked directly to the Center, hoping his Pokemon could be healed. He walked inside and went up to the counter. A pink haired nurse was there, smiling brightly. "Hello, welcome to the Pokemon Center! We take care of wounded or sick Pokemon here. May I help you?"

Akio took out his three Pokeballs and said, "My Pokemon are all worn out. Can you restore them, please?"

The lady smiled and said, "I'd be happy to." With that, she took the Pokeballs and placed them onto a machine. It started to glow, along with the balls themselves as Akio watched in awe.

At the Pewter City Gym, a man was standing outside the door. He saw Zeiro coming in and said, "Hey there, champ in making! You look like you came to challenge the Gym Leader. Well if you wanna get to him, you gotta go through the Rock Gauntlet first. All Gym Leaders can give trainers special tests to see if they're worth battling. The Leader here says that only the ones that can beat the trainers studying here is worth his time."

"Is that so...?" Zeiro said, stopping as the man explained the rules of the gym to him. "Then all I have to do is go in and beat the trainers inside. That's the only way I'll be able to challenge the gym leader?" He pondered for a second, his hand moving to his belt where he attached the pokeballs to. "...That should be simple. In that case, I accept their little test." With that said, he pushes the door open and steps inside the gym.

Inside the gym, the ground was rocky and jagged with many people already inside. One was a boy with shorts and a cap on his head. He had a Pokeball in hand and he said, "I hope you came for a battle," he said with a grin. "You have to beat three of us if you want a shot at Reye."

Zeiro smirks at the boy before him, taking out Bulbasaur. He knew Pidgey's Flying type would put the poor pokemon at a disadvantage as well as its inexperience of fighting, so he wanted to save the poor thing as a back up plan and hope to pile through the entire gym with the grass pokemon.

"Is that so...we'll beat you al lwith ease." He said as he released Bulbasaur from his pokemon. "Let's get this over with."

The youngster send out his Pokemon. It was a Sandshrew, a small yellow mole-like rodent. He pointed at the grass Pokemon and said, "Let's use Dig on it, go!" The rodent jumped up and dug itself into the ground, moving towards the Bulbasaur. After a few moments, it rose up in an attempt to hit Bulbasaur from below.

Bulbasaur looked around in confusion, trying to figure out where Sandshrew was. Too little, too late, the poor pokemon barely dodged a rather direct attack from Sandshrew, but still substained damage. Surrounding Sandshrew as well as the air around it, however, was a purple powder that trailed from its bulb.

"Poison Powder." Zeiro concluded as Bulbasaur backed off. "Although you managed to hit me, your pokemon's been poisoned as a side effect. Now then...let's get Bulbasaur's health back up. Leech Seed!"

Bulbasaur pointed his bud twoards the shrew pokemon, launching a seed straight at him.

The boy grunted in frustration as he knew his opponent would regain health with each passing moment. Still... it was a grass AND poison type Pokemon. If he could use another ground type attack, it should be enough to finish the job. That was what he thought at least. "Sandshrew, Dig one more time!"

The Pokemon went underground again. Its movements were slowed from the poison, but the Youngster knew this was his only change at victory. After a few moments, the Sand Pokemon came up again, aiming to defeat the bulb Pokemon with an attack from below.

"Do you really think he'll fall for it a second time? Bulbasaur, now!" Zeiro shouted. On command, the vines extended from under the pokemon's bulb before hitting the ground, launching the grass pokemon into the air and away from Sandshrew's attack. At the same time the sand pokemon came up, the vines hit it to deal super effective damage.
