Devil Survivor - The Distortion of God's Plan.

Two eyes stared at the sky as a figure walked along the crowded road, blonde hair falling down pale features. He was a average looking fellow, dressed in a simple white shirt with a red coat and black jeans, a single object strapped to his belt. It looked like a simple Nintendo DS, painted blue with an image of a rather attractive anime girl in the front. Yet, something was off about this figure and his DS. He wasn't like the many walking around like sheep, his gaze confused and annoyed. Small flashes of light echoed along the edges of his DS as he checked his watch,

15:00....?

Leon sighed and shook his head.


The British boy apologized as he bumped into a rather busty red haired girl, suiting to ignore the two odd boys trailing behind her. He looked at the buildings without a word, unable to grasp where he was. He had only been recently at home, in Manchester, about to play the new game he had bought, something called Devil Survivor. He never got the chance. The last thing he remembered was some weird ass flash of light before he woke up next to a trash can.

"...What the hell did I get myself into...?"

From a little aways of the blonde boy was a girl with shoulder length blue hair. Her face was rather cold and aloof compared to your average girl as she quietly walked down the street. Adorn with a dark blue shirt and a simple black jacket and black pants, you could even mistaken her as some sort of long haired GUY than a girl (especially the fact she barely has a chest).

As she walked, she glanced at every person she passed, not turning her head to pay any attention to them specifically. In one of her pockets was a Blue DS with the bottom of it black, similar to the older versions only with a different shade of blue. Fiddling with something in her pocket, she sighed before stopping at the end of the street, waiting for the light to turn green and allowing her to walk again.

The summer of the second year of high school is almost over. People visiting the city of Tokyo have begun to head back home. Sadly, Leon couldn't go back home, even if he wanted to. He was currently stuck in Shibuya, only able to speak the language because of unknown circumstances, seemingly all connected to his DS. He paused next to the girl at the crossing, waiting for the lights himself when he heard something beep, scratching his cheek as he muttered in English. He had no idea what was up with that stupid thing, he often wondered if his R4 had screwed him over. "Laplace Mail? Since when can this stupid thing hold email..?"

From: The Observer
Subject: Laplace Mail
Good morning
Here is today's NEWS.

1: At around 16:00, a man will be killed in a Shibuya-ku Aoyama apartment. The wounds on the corpse are consistent with an attack by a large carnivorous beast.

2: A large explosion will occur in Minato-ku Aoyama at 19:00. The cause is unknown.

3: At 21:00, a blackout will affect the entire Tokyo metropolitan area.

Leon blinked before shaking his head, closing the DS with a mere sigh.

Someone had to be screwing with him.

At the same time that the boy's DS beeped, the girl's beeped in sync. She blinked as she pulled it out and flipped it open, only to stare at it.

"...Mail?"

After opening the mail and reading the same mail that the boy got, she shook her head before putting it back in her pocket.

"No way that's going to happen." she muttered in Japanese.

The light turned green and she continued to walk.

DayBEFORE >>> 16:30

Several police cars zoom down the street, sirens wailing. Leon blinked and looked up from his map reading, taking a glance at his watch before narrowing his eyes. He slowly made a note of a direction on the map before folding it up, putting it in his pockets as he began to dash after the cars, listening for the noises. If he was right, then those cars were heading towards Aoyama. Could it be true? Did that email really come true, or was it some sort of joke? He didn't know, but he was going to find out either way.

It took him quite some time to get to Aoyama, panting loudly. He looked around and gazed up at the police crowded apartments, knowing that it had only been thirty minutes. The scene was roped off by the police, a crowd of onlookers gathering around and pushing through to see more. He was unable to get a close look, but he could hear the whispers. A person had been attacked, a student, and seemingly eaten. Leon stood stunned, his hand lashing out to bring up his DS,

The DS beeped again.

Good morning
Here is more NEWS.

1: At 17:30, a foreigner will be attacked and killed in front of the Electric Museum, north of Shibuya along the Yamanote line.

Leon narrowed his eyes. Was someone threatening him?

Oh, he understood now.

Thus, he began to move...

As the boy began to move, the girl from before arrives to the scene, her eyes widen. The mail...was it telling the truth? She pulled out her DS and glanced at the mail again, paying attention to the other two.

2: A large explosion will occur in Minato-ku Aoyama at 19:00. The cause is unknown.

3: At 21:00, a blackout will affect the entire Tokyo metropolitan area.

She pulled out a pocket watch that looked exactly like the one from FullMetal Alchemist and opened it, looking at the current time.

She looked over the most recent mail, narrowing her eyes, before shoving the DS back in her pocket.

"Just my luck....I gotta take the Yamanote Line aroudn then...." She muttered before walking off, glancing back at the fenced off appartment.

DayBEFORE >>> 17:30

Leon looked around the rather pleasant area, the evening glow following along the trees to come rest upon the earth. His blonde hair moved with the heavy wind, eyes flashing to a narrow as he clenched his fists. His DS beeped, his ears twitching as he began to look around wildly. He had expected find the person that had been threatening him, but all that met his eyes and ears was dead silence. There wasn't a single person in the area, the beeping of the game system slowly morphing into a song, of all things.

The blonde twitched and scratched his head, taking a gander at the DS as he took it off his belt...

Communication Player...

Decryption confirmed...

...Condition green.

Peaceful days are over...


Roars shook the air.

The girl walked towards the Yamamote line, still bothered and disturbed by the most recent mail her DS has showed her. To be honest, she doesn't know what to do. Common sense told her to help this foreigner, but would she be able to? If the mail truely predict the future, she couldn't know for sure if it was absolute or not.

Her DS beeped, shaking her away from her thoughts as she puleld it out. Strangely enough, she heard another beeping DS not too far away from her. She opened her DS and saw it booting up, raising an eyebrow, before the message Let's Survive appeared. Her vision was engulfed in white light as she could hear monstorous roars around her.

"Are you freakin' kidding me!?"

Leon couldn't help but laugh as he stared at the small girl like creature, clenching his fists. Yet, even with such an appearance a aura of vile hunger swept out over him, eyes flashing. The Pixie-like creature gave a yawn and seemed to blink away something in her eyes, coming to glare at the blonde human with a feral grin. "Ahhh! I thought I was going to suffocate in there...!" She shrugged and crossed her arms, her wings keeping her afloat. "So this is the human world? Hmm, then you must be the human who summoned me. Very well...!"

He barely had time to dodge as a lashing kick struck out at him, stone exploding from the force. Leon could only stare in shock at the destruction, unable to believe he had dodged such a speedy strike. The Pixie seemed amused at most, bringing up a wagging finger. "We will fight, then! If I win, I will have my freedom. Let's go!"

The blonde just flashed a sharp grin, the DS on his belt screeching with a golden light.

"You're joking, right? A little girl like you ain't got a chance!"

His mind froze,

"At 17:30, a foreigner will be attacked and killed in front of the Electric Museum, north of Shibuya along the Yamanote line...."

He sweatdropped,

"Ah, shit..."

As the white light faded, the girl just <b>stared</b> at the....thing in front of her. The only way she could describe it was some sort of humanoid wolf or dog with a club. The 'werewolf' looked at itself before turning to the girl.

"YOU, HUMAN, SUMMONED KOBOLD?" He snarled before narrowing his eyes. "FIGHT HUMAN, KOBOLD GET FREEDOM."

Before the girl had any time to respond to that, he quickly raised his club and SLAMMED it to her stomach, throwing her backwards and crashing into the Pixie the boy was fighting. She slowly got up, holding her stomach in one hand, before coughing up spit. Looking up, she could see it advancing towards her.

~Damn...what's going on? What is this thing? What am I suppose to do?!~ Her thoughts raced in her mind as she stumbled to get up.

Dee just stared at the sight she was watching from a distance, hidden slightly from view. She was confused to say the least. The girl with the jacket had just somehow managed to find herself in this place, not remembering the last thing that she had done very clearly. In addition, she was now watching people fight what seemed to be monsters.

What was going on?

The girl just tugged down her hat a little lower on her head, wishing this would all go away and hoping she could stay well out of sight. Maybe she should go get help...? Then again, who would believe her? Or understand her for that matter?

Dee sighed.

"Survive......eh?"

Words of confusion the left the lips of a young man who stood on the sidewalk, looking down to the device resting in his right hand. His DS had been flipped open, the full black game system gleaming in the light, the decal of three deep, red X's shimmering at a different pace.

This thing had been acting up all day. First of all, since when did Nintendo supply a mail feature? The young man had been a gamer his entire life, laying waste to opponents in the United States and around the world online, yet this was something he had never seen before. All that talk about death, it was kind of bringing him down. Freakin' Trolls spamming his inbox.

He had removed the black fitted baseball cap he wore backward on his head, brushing his dark brown hair with his free hand, before placing it back on his head. He placed his hand on the back of his neck, looking down to the sidewalk below him. His attire was a combination of the typical American urban and punk scene fused into one. A black, hooded sweatshirt rested over another black t-shirt, a print of a crucifix like sword surrounded by the rib-cage of a skeltal angel torso, "Lost in the Machine" in flashing crimcon underneath it. It was an ironic stab at the religious masses he was raised with, he himself a non-believer. It was his weird sense of humor. He shifted his legs, covered in baggy dark blue jeans, pressing his black skateboard shoes on the concrete.

Then the flash appeared.

Blinding light forced his eyes away, his arm covering himself from the pain. What the hell was going on. He thought the light had died down and that he was able to lower his arm. No sooner did he lower his arm, that his entire world had flipped upside down.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

A massive arm slammed into the space where the young man had once stood, a cleaver sticking into the earth. Green skin crawled up the arm which connected the weapon to the heavily muscled beast that stood before him.

"AHHHHH!!! Puny thing release Ogre? BAH! Ogre rip you into pieces, drink your blood, and Ogre be free! AAAAHHHHH!!!!"

The young man rose back to his feet from the desperate dive he made for his life, now seeing this giant monstrosity charging him. He was in shock, he was scared, he was confused, but instinct had kicked in. This comedic kid from the U.S. cities had to break his shell. He had to survive.

Leon didn't even bother to speak, launching forward to punch the Pixie with a violent strike to the jaw. Considering the timing, both Pixie and Kobold were sent flying in a tumble, leaving the blonde to catch his breath while his fingers twitched. His eyes flashed, coming to focus on the fallen girl over his shoulder, English flowing over his lips. "You okay?" He suddenly froze, the air becoming a vortex of light as the Pixie seemed to blink and let loose a warm glow around herself, wounds healing.

The British boy sighed and bowed his head,

"This sucks."

With that said he picked up a nearby metal pole and swung it like a sword, rushing forward to smack the feminine monster. Safe to say, the creature was not expecting it. Blood flew through the air as a arm was broken, a female scream echoing with pain and anger. Leon could only back away, watching the Pixie stare at him with hatred and..curiosity? "How amusing, a human that can harm a demon? Is it because of the little toy on your belt? Either way, I won't lose. Freedom is mine!"

Leon stopped, taking in her words.

The DS? The thing that now had the nickname "COMP" within it's dataworks? It was helping him hurt these things?

Sounds good!

"Bite me," He snapped, smashing the pole over her head in a flash.

The girl maanged to stand up, staring at disbelief at the boy. "English...." she muttered. Then it hit her.

"What are you still doing here? Get the hell out!" She shouted in English. "You're going to die!"

"HUMAN DIE, FREE KOBOLD."

Her eyes widen before she jumped back and away from the Kobold's club. However, the jump wasn't very graceful, with an injured and bruised stomach. The monster picked up its club and swung it down at the girl, only for her to grab a hold of it to block. She kick the Kobold away before swinging it around and hitting him at his head to send him staggering backwards.

"HUMAN...HURT KOBOLD?" it questioned as it glared at her, sending a shiver up her spine. "KOBOLD KILL!" He roared ferociously as he launched himself at her again.

"Damn it, you're really starting to piss me off..." she muttered in Japanese before swinging the club again, nailing him once again.

Dee couldn't help but wince when she saw them all fighting more. It looked like it would hurt, and she couldn't help but feel bad for the monsters, despite how illogical it might have sounded. She felt bad for the people too, of course, but she had no clue what to do. Her confusion to the whole situation wasn't helping either.

So she just stood there, mentally debating what she should do, or if she should do anything at all.

~Alright Shane, think dude! Don't panic! You've killed a hundred of these nobodies......granted they were in a video game, but screw it! Think!~

Thoughts raced through his mind as he dove between the beast's legs, dodging another wild cleaver shot. This thing was powerful, there was no doubt, but he was stupid. Beating up on idiots with no strategy was something he had great knowledge of.

It worked once, so why not again? Shane leaped between his attacker's legs, dodging a punch from the beast's unarmed hand. Shane turned, grabbing the arm as it hit the road, and pulled it through it's legs, flipping the beast onto it's back, and delivering a vicious kick to the space between it's shoulder and neck! The Ogre yelled out in pain, almost leaping to it's feet as Shane backed up.

"You......puny creature hurt Ogre?!? Ogre not understand! OGRE GRIND YOUR BONES!"

The beast charged again with bloodlust in it's eyes.

He could hurt it?!? This shocked Shane more than anything. He had never been in a real fight before, at least not like this, but something about that just felt.....right. He took a deep breath, pulling his right arm back, his fist gripping. Make it count. He struck, the sound of flesh and bone meeting flesh, as his fist collided between the attacker's legs. The Ogre fell to his knees, holding it's stomach, before looking back up at the human before it, anger burning in it's eyes.

This wasn't over.

"That...ain't gonna happen!" called Leon as he lashed out with the pole, sending the Pixie to the earth with a final blow. He panted and backed off, watching with a stare as the female demon stood up to gaze at him with amusement. "So, you have defeated me? Very well, I HAVE to abide by the contract, so I will follow you. I'm the fairy demon, Pixie. Don't you DARE waste me, understand?" There was no time to respond, words flashing across his DS as the creature vanished in a pillar of light. The DS screen lit up, data flaring alive,

Unknown to all but those with COMP's, a number flashed above his head.

It turned from 0, to 1.

The girl gave a relief sigh before glaring back at the Kobold. He lunged foward, but missed entirely as she slipped out of his way. Readjusting her grip on his lcub, she swung it down with all her strength and nailed his head, sending him crashing to the earth.

"GRRA...GRAAAGHH...ME LOST...."

The Kobold staggered up before looking at the girl.

"IF ME DEFEATED BY ONE WHO SUMMONS ME, BECOMES MASTER. THIS CALLED CONTRACT......ONLY HEARD OF THEM...ME KOBOLD, DEMON OF WAR. TO MEET YOU, NICE!"

Soon, the demon disappeared in a pillar of light as well. The girl's DS beeped in unison with the disapeparance. Taking it out and flipping it open, the screen lit up, just like Leon's DS.

She turned to the blonde boy, seeing a number above his head go from 0 to 1. Blinking, she noticed a number near her stating 3. After staring and pondering for a moment, she sighed.

"What the hell is going on..." she muttered in a mix of English and Japanese before falling flat on her back. Oh, she was OK.....just a big old bruise on her stomach. Nothing serious.

The girl with the odd hat blinked. The monsters were suddenly gone? Part of her wished she was closer, if just to hear what was going on. The other, more logical part of her knew that if she got closer there was a high possibility of her becoming a stain on the ground.

There was only that one boy fighting the ogre-like thing now. With the other two to help him, he'd probably be fine, and even if they didn't, he could probably take care of it on his own. Even if she went over to help, she'd probably just mess something up.

With that excuse in mind, Dee turned to leave, trying to think of how she had gotten here in the first place.

She wanted to go home...

The Ogre grunted as it attempted to rise to it's feet. This was it. If he let this thing up now, he didn't know if he would be able to handle it. Shane charged, letting out a battle cry-like yell before thrusting his foot forward, cracking the green beast in the jaw, sending it to it's back.

The Ogre sat up, shaking it's head as it looked dumbfounded at the young man before him, heavily breathing from fatigue.

"You.....beat Ogre? You now Ogre's Master. Ogre come when you need, smash things! Kills things! Ahhhhh!"

A pillar of light sent the creature out of sight, shane finally letting his gaurd down, breathing a sigh of relief. He removed the DS from his pocket, flipping it open to view the screens.

He looked up as a counter forme dover his head, the number shifting from 0 to 1.

"Demons, huh..?"

Leon flipped his DS alive and began taking a gander through the options, stopping the Pixie seemingly held within. He suddenly paused as the DS began to beep wildly, alerting the blonde of a new email or two. He scratched his head slowly and searched to check out said mail without a murmur, eyes narrowing upon the wording with a hum of light from his DS,

From: ???
Subject: Congratulations.
I don't have time to talk or discuss who I am. Head to Aoyama Cemetery. You'll meet a person who will affect your future activities there. Also, find others with COMPS. You will need a group to survive the days to come, as this was a mere childish test compared to the nightmares ahead. You have earned the right to become a demon tamer with your victory, much like others. You can now summon a demon at any time as an ally and command it. To gain more demons you need to defeat them and form a contract, fuse them, or form them from contracts through the use of Macca - Soul Currency, which is gained through killing demons.

Zeiya took out her DS, careful not to hurt her arleady bruised stomach, and looked at the email before slamming it shut and shoving it back in ehr pocket.

"I am NOT going all the way to a cemetary." she simply said, her eye twitching as she got up, wincing at the pain. "Unlike a certain suicidal foreigner, I have a home to go to."

Dee had walked until she was out of sight of the strangers and sat down, not really paying attention to where she was. It was quiet, and she was alone. At the moment that was all she cared about.

Where was she? Why was she here? How could she get home? These questions, that last in particular, were buzzing around in her head like angry hornets. And she couldn't answer any of them.

...Crap, she was going to start crying. Distractions, distractions...oh, singing helped.

"Konna ni, tsumetai, tobarino fukakude...anata wa...hitori de...nemutteru...inori no utagoe, sabishii nohara wo...chiisana...hikari ga...terashiteta...anata no yume wo miteta...kodomo no youni waratteta...natsukashiku...mada tooku, sore wa mirai no, yakusoku...itsuka midori no asa ni...itsuka tadori tsukeruto...fuyu gareta...kono sora wo...shinjiteiru kara...Fields of Hope..."

"Aoyama Cemetery..?"

He couldn't help but whisper, his eyes looking around the dark area with tensing hands. His mind flashed through the various thoughts that had piled up, his ears twitching at the sound of a rather attractive voice singing in the distance. His footsteps echoed as he began to walk deeper into the cemetery, his COMP/DS flashing slowly. It took several seconds for him to reach the voice, his gaze coming to meet a rather lonely looking girl, and the number 0 above her head.

His eyes snapped open,

The email!

"Get down!"

An explosion suddenly tore through the forest near the Cemetery, the sky burning red as flames rushed to consume clouds. Leon almost fell down from the force, his form jumping forward to stand next to the girl as he activated his COMP. His stare locked onto the forest, making sure no flames were heading towards them. How had he simply forgotten?! Was he so battle hungry that he had forgotten the warnings from before? Words echoed through his head, eyes flashing,

....A large explosion will occur in Minato-ku Aoyama at 19:00. The cause is unknown....

He cursed under his breath and turned to the girl,

"You okay?"

"Jesus Christ!" The girl squeaked as she watched the burning forest, before focusing on the stranger. "I'm not hurt, but that was scary. What on Earth is with this place?" Dee sighed. "I wanna go home." She muttered.

Then she forced herself to focus on the matter at hand. "Thanks for that."
